Hands-On Technology Training in a Professional Lab Environment
The MIM Computer Lab provides students with the equipment, technology, and practical resources needed to develop real-world computer support and networking skills.
The lab is designed to support hands-on training for CompTIA A+, Network+, and other information technology courses. Students can practice installing, configuring, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining computer hardware and network systems in a supervised learning environment.
Computer Lab Equipment
The MIM Computer Lab includes:
- Desktop computers and workstations
- Computer monitors
- Servers
- Network switches
- Routers and networking equipment
- Cables, connectors, and wiring tools
- Computer components and replacement parts
- Hardware installation and repair equipment
- Network configuration and troubleshooting tools
- Software and operating systems used in IT support environments
Students have access to the equipment they need to practice important technical skills, including assembling computers, installing operating systems, configuring networks, identifying hardware problems, connecting devices, managing users, and troubleshooting common technology issues.
Learn by Doing
Technology careers require more than classroom knowledge. Employers need professionals who can confidently work with computers, servers, networks, cables, switches, and other technical equipment.
The MIM Computer Lab gives students opportunities to apply what they learn during lectures through practical exercises and supervised lab projects. Students can build confidence by working with equipment similar to what they may encounter in professional IT departments, help desks, repair centers, and network support environments.
CompTIA A+ and Networking Preparation
The lab supports students preparing for CompTIA certification examinations and entry-level technology careers.
Hands-on activities may include:
- Installing and replacing computer components
- Configuring desktop computers and peripheral devices
- Installing Windows and other operating systems
- Diagnosing hardware and software problems
- Setting up wired and wireless networks
- Connecting and configuring switches and routers
- Creating and testing network cables
- Practicing computer security procedures
- Troubleshooting network connectivity
- Performing preventive maintenance
- Working with servers and shared network resources
Certification examinations are separate from MIM coursework and may require additional registration, preparation, and examination fees.
Computer Lab Hours
The MIM Computer Lab is available during the following hours:
Monday through Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday: 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Sunday: Closed
Lab availability may vary during holidays, school closures, scheduled examinations, maintenance periods, or special events.
A Supportive Learning Environment
Students may use the computer lab for scheduled classes, supervised laboratory assignments, technical practice, group projects, and approved independent study.
Students are expected to follow all lab safety procedures, equipment-use policies, instructor directions, and school technology policies. Food and beverages should be kept away from computers and networking equipment.
Build Skills for the Technology Industry
Whether students are beginning their technology education or preparing for a professional certification, the MIM Computer Lab provides a practical environment where they can strengthen their technical knowledge and develop valuable workplace skills.
At MIM, students do not simply learn how technology works—they gain experience working with it.
